Set of 4 Ercol Posture model 775A upholstered dining armchairs. Designed by Mike Pengelly and first produced around 1982, it is understood that this particular model was originally available with frames in either ash or beech. The chairs are upholstered which was not common in Ercol chairs of the 1980s, and they have a unique floatingback rest. These chairs were only produced for a limited number of years and are now proving quite difficult to find. This particular set appears to be in beech and like most Ercol chairs they are well-made and therefore remain structurally sound.
Each chair bears the gold Ercol label confirming that they were manufactured between 1977 and 1995 (possibly Dec 1985) and are stamped with the model and design number. The chairs show signs of regular use and are offered in unrestored condition. The fabric has been replaced at sometime, but is in good condition and can be cleaned or replaced according to personal preference. Some indication of the history of the chairs is provided by the asset numbers of the previous owners which are also attached to the underneath. Overall H: 75.5 W: 53.3 D: 53.3.
