This is a magnificent antique dining set comprising a William IV solid mahogany dining table, Circa 1830 in date and a set fourteen antique Victorian dining chairs C1870 in date.

This beautiful table has a rounded rectangular top with a moulded edge. The top is in stunning. Has four leaves of approximately 60cm each, which can be added or removed as required to suit the occasion.

It stands on six elegantly turned and reeded legs that terminate in their original elegant brass and porcelain caps and castors. The superb and rare set of fourteen antique Victorian mahogany dining chairs, are Circa 1870 in date.

With upholstered padded backs and stuff over seats they are raised on elegant turned forelegs that terminate in brass and porcelain castors with sabre rear legs. They have been reupholstered in a sumptuous Cardinal Red damask with expertly double piped borders. It is rare to find such a large, fabulous and comfortable set of chairs and they enhance the dining table beautifully. It is a very impressive set which is sure to contribute to successful dinner parties.

Height 18.9 - Seat height. 18th century furniture designer, once characterized mahogany as best suited to furniture where strength is demanded as well as a wood that works up easily, has a beautiful figure and polishes so well that it is an ornament to any room in which it may be placed. Matching his words to his work, Sheraton designed much mahogany furniture. The qualities that impressed Sheraton are particularly evident in a distinctive pattern of wood called flame mahogany. The flame figure in the wood is revealed by slicing through the face of the branch at the point where it joins another element of the tree.
